Our View: Another class of leaders
for the county Congratulations
to the latest graduating class of Green County Leaders. The
program, a cooperative effort between the Green County
Development Corporation and UW-Extension and Black Hawk
Technical College, has become a solid and established source
of new leadership for the county and its communities. The
class and its graduates make Green County a better place to
live and make its future more promising.
Graduates this
year included: Sarah Anderson, Erik Backhaus, Angie Meyer and
Lisa Grochola of The Swiss Colony; Larry Brown of the School
District of Monroe; Frank Davis and Marcey Sink of Monroe
Clinic; Tammy Derrickson of Monroe Senior Center; Scott
Gelbach of Alliant Energy; Jeanne Hermanson of Monroe Chamber
of Commerce and Industry; Ellen Hossman of das Baumhaus and
the Literacy Council of Green County; Marge Klinzing of Monroe
Parks and Recreation Department; Nikki Matley of RR Donnelley;
Kent McConnell of Green County Broadcasting; Judy Meier of
Kittelsen Law Firm; Tonya Mulrooney of Green County Land
Conservation; Christina Symons of Amcore Bank; John Waelti, a
candidate for the Assembly's 80th District; Susan Wetherington
of Green County Development Corporation; Lisa Bell-Righter of
Small World Childcare Center; Nic Owen of Village of New
Glarus; Shelly Kuhl of Bank of Brodhead; Sherri Salzwedel of

Corporation.
With the 2007-08 class' graduation came
the departure of a important cog in the program and community.
Sarah Burgert, the community resource development educator for
UW-Extension Green County, is moving to Arizona and will be
missed. Her contributions to numerous community efforts are a
working example of what community leadership is
about.
